A smiling middle-aged man in a gray suit with a turquoise shirt and patterned tie, sitting at a desk with his hands clasped.

This poem reflects the journey of rising beyond labels, limitations, and expectations. It speaks to resilience, identity, and the quiet strength found in overcoming adversity.

They told you that you cannot do it.
No money. No support.
Yet you did it.

They said you belong to the wrong clan,
the wrong tribe.
Yet you rose.

They called you names,
tried to define you,
tried to use lame reasoning to cripple you.
But you refused to bend.

They spoke limits over you,
drew borders around your dreams,
measured your wings
before you ever learned to fly.

But you rose anyway,
through the noise,
through the doubt,
through the smallness of their imagination.

You carried your own light.
You built your own path.
You became your own permission.

And still you climbed.
The Rwenzori stood before you,
yet you moved upward, step by step.
You stretched like the Nile,
flowing past every obstacle.

You danced the dance of joy,
faces turning in wonder.
The winds of Eldoret steadied you.
The night rested around you.
The full moon smiled.

Even the ancient wisdom of the Himalayas
leaned close to watch you rise.

Whoever said you cannot do it
was wrong.
